LULAC Ohio and the NAACP announce the beginning of a new collaborative journey, A Black and Brown Agenda for Equity in Ohio. In memory of John Lewis, we will collectively work to address Equity for Black and Brown and other marginalized communities in Ohio. We hope you join us in the Spirit of John Lewis to not be afraid to make “Good Trouble,” necessary trouble for equity in Ohio.
LULAC Ohio shares its deepest condolences at the passing of the beloved Congressman John Lewis. He is remembered as a “Titan of the Civil Rights”, a UNITER of the Human Family, not afraid to make. Our hearts are saddened, and our spirits embolden by his Call to Action, when we see something that is wrong or injustice, we have a moral obligation to Say something …to Do something!
LULAC Ohio continues voicing its concern for the health and safety of residents and staff at the Morrow County Jail and other correctional facilities in Ohio. With a jail population of 79 inmates, the Morrow County Jail has reported more than 50 cases of COVID-19 and its unclear how well prepared the jail system is to handle this outbreak and deal with preventable deaths.
These are challenging times indeed, but we KNOW in OHIO as in our NATION we find Strength in COMING TOGETHER! We are learning daily that when the kindness, strength and resiliency of our human spirit, our cultures and unique perspectives come together, it can lead to inspired solutions! We are seeing it unfold right before our eyes, as we learn to find new creative ways to address needs in a new “Norm.”
